Support small businesses and buy your own piece of Pembrokeshire this Christmas

Comments Off on Support small businesses and buy your own piece of Pembrokeshire this Christmas

It’s been a frustrating year all round – we were all taken aback by the virus that began to take hold in early 2020.  Then the nation shut down, only to open again at different times in different places.  We know that this means that many of you have not been able to come on your yearly holiday to the Pembrokeshire coast.  Believe us when we say that small businesses in Pembrokeshire have very much missed you, too!

However, this doesn’t mean that you can’t get your West Wales fix this year.  You may not be able to travel right now, but this is the perfect opportunity to treat yourself or your travel buddies to your very own piece of Pembrokeshire that you can enjoy at home.

Small businesses in Pembrokeshire have worked hard to make sure that we’re still accommodating as many people as we’re able, and this list means that even if you can’t make it to our famous shores this year, you can still enjoy the best Pembrokeshire has to offer.  Take a look at these fantastic small businesses, all local to Newgale Holidays, and what they offer online so that Pembrokeshire can come to you!

Warren Heaton Art

Many of you will have visited the beautiful little gallery in Solva named ‘Oriel Fach’, run by renowned Pembrokeshire-based equine and landscape painter Warren Heaton.  Warren is well-known for his dynamic imagery and manages to capture the wildness of this turbulent coastline effortlessly in his paintings.

An image that might look familiar to our guests is one of his latest creations, named “Peeling Waves, Newgale” (above).  Beyond visiting at our Newgale webcam, this stunning piece of art is as close as you can get to being on the beach itself, while allowing you to admire the seaside every day on your very own wall.

Celtic Skin Co

Based in Newgale itself, this is one of the area’s newest small businesses that burst onto the local scene in 2018 in a flurry of bubbles and glitter.  Want to imagine that you’re by the sea when you wake up?  Why not treat yourself to their decadent Mermazing Shower Fluff, a whipped moisturising soap that will invoke holiday memories.  Or how about all-day sea smells throughout your home with the Aqua minerals and Sea Kelp wax melts?  They also have a Christmas Collection and Gift Sets available if you’re buying for someone you know is missing the sea…

Visit Celtic Skin Co’s website for more details.

Mamgu Welshcakes

There’s nothing more West Walian than a Welsh cake, and if you’re going to have them, then they have to be from Solva-based artisan company Mamgu.  If you haven’t visited the café yet, then put it on your to-do-post-pandemic bucket list – the food is incredible and the setting is also pretty gorgeous, just along from the harbour in the pretty fishing village of Solva, a few miles from Newgale.

However, this most delectable of small businesses also offer Welsh cake deliveries!  Choose from your favourites; traditional crumbly, buttery fruit goodness, or mix it up a bit with savoury cheese and leek welsh cakes, packs of mini welsh cakes or, our favourite, their festive Mince pie welsh cakes – these are absolutely to die for!

Have a little taste of Pembrokeshire delivered to your door by ordering on their website here or give the gift of cake this year with a gift box or e-gift card.  Yum!

Cinnamon Grove Gin

If it’s a Christmas tipple that reminds you of your Christmas break at Newgale that you’re after, then look no further than this stunning, locally made gin.  Crafted in Pembrokeshire’s first gin distillery a mere 10 miles from Newgale Holidays, this beautifully presented small-batch gin is literally a taste of Pembrokeshire as it’s steeped with pure water sourced from the 300-year-old well on Cinammon Grove Farm.  When small businesses say they’re authentically Welsh, there are few who have the well to prove it!

The online shop offers many lovely options including a delicious premium pink gin, perfect for those missing a bubble-filled glass while staring at a West Wales sunset.

Prints of Pembs

We need to refocus after all that gin, and acclaimed Pembrokeshire photography company Prints of Pembs have got the perfect shots to remind you of that perfect summer you spent with us on the West Wales coast.

Prints of Pembs is one of the small businesses run by businessman Tim Hughes, who, in his daily work capturing commercial shots across our beautiful county, realised that he could share the stunning scenery that he encounters every day with those who love Pembrokeshire.

Tim says “I want to share my love of Pembrokeshire with everyone!  That’s why my photographs are available as a digital download, framed print or gift wrapped, so that everyone can own a professionally-captured glimpse of the county we all love in whatever medium suits them”.

Tim’s stunning scenic shots are available to buy at www.printsofpembs.co.uk and make the perfect Christmas gift for those longing for lazy West Wales beach days.

The Big Blue Experience

You may not be able to visit right now, but that doesn’t stop you planning your next big adventure for when this stunning spot is accessible to everyone.  And while many small businesses focus on the draw of the sea and the ability to indulge in many different watersports, The Big Blue Experience have gone one step further and now offer Activity Vouchers via their online shop.  They’re valid for a year from the date of purchase, allowing you plenty of time to arrange your trip to Newgale and plan the most suitable day to take up your watersport of choice.

Whether it’s kitesurfing, surfing, landboarding or coasteering you’re interested in, The Big Blue Experience offers an easy way to treat the salty thrillseekers in your family to a future trip to your favourite place!

We’re sorry that we can’t accommodate everyone this Christmas, but our calendar is open to Welsh guests for the foreseeable future, and we’re taking bookings now for 2021 breaks!  We’re trying our best to let you know what’s happening with coronavirus restrictions in Pembrokeshire, so for updates and advice on when to come and stay with us safely over the next few months, please follow us on Facebook now.
