Family-friendly activities on your Newgale holiday

Comments Off on Family-friendly activities on your Newgale holiday

Pembrokeshire is the perfect holiday destination for family-friendly adventures with plenty of beach days, mountain hikes, watersports, and historic spaces to entertain everyone along this famous coastal area.  Sometimes, though, you might want to mix things up and keep the kids happy, and in Pembrokeshire, we also have a range of fantastic activities for the whole family to enjoy. So take a day off from sandy toes and book yourselves in for a family-friendly day out!

Come and see the giraffes and their animal friends at Folly Farm Adventure Park and Zoo

This is one of Pembrokeshire’s most highly rated family-friendly activities, and only 40 minutes from Newgale Holidays, it’s a lovely day out for all members of your tribe, from grandparents to toddlers. This adventure park is home to all kinds of exotic animals, games, fair rides, and an adventure park. Want to feed rabbits and milk goats? You can! The stars of the show at Folly Farm are the penguins, lions, and Wales’ only giraffes! Book in advance to take advantage of the Big Wheel, animal shows, and a chat with the resident magician, Jugglestruck.

Jump for joy at Hangar 5

The first trampoline park and soft play venue in the UK is loads of fun and is one of Pembrokeshire’s more unique family-friendly activities. Set in an old aircraft hangar on the outskirts of the market town of Haverfordwest, big kids and their younger siblings can have hours of fun bouncing, learning new skills, and playing in an extensive soft play area.  This attraction is great if rain has come in overnight, and even has a cafe. Be wary of filling the kids up with delicious food and then putting them on trampolines, though…

Try cricket cookies at Dr. Beynon’s Bug Farm

This is not your ordinary Welsh farm! Dr. Sarah Beynon is an entomologist and invites you to study her beloved insects at the many exhibits on show at this unusual farm. Hold Dung Beetles, learn about stick insects, trek the bee pollinator trail, and even visit the cafe, the Grub Kitchen, where you can try cricket cookies! That is if you’re brave enough. This is one of the most unique experiences in the UK and definitely should be on your family-friendly activities list.

Take a wild ride at Oakwood Theme Park

This is Wales’ oldest and largest theme park, where you can enjoy the longest wooden rollercoaster in the UK, Megafobia. Water coaster Drenched is very popular, but do bring a change of clothes! The aptly named Bounce, bouncing high in the air above the 80-acre park, gives you a great view over the woodland in which Oakwood is set.  There are plenty of other adventures to be had here, too – from a Neverland for the younger ones to explore to waterslides, a boating lake, and even a haunted house! You can buy food here, too, and although it’s only 25 minutes from your accommodation, this is a full day family-friendly activity. Go on parents, you know you want to!

Have a splashing time at Blue Lagoon Waterpark

Just down the road from Oakwood Theme park is the Blue Lagoon, a fantastic option if it’s a hot summer’s day but your kids aren’t so keen on the sea. There are wave machines, water slides, an outdoor heated pool, and jets, all great fun for family members of all ages! This is an extremely popular attraction so it’s advised that you book ahead, especially if you’re visiting during the school holidays. But with qualified lifeguards on site and smaller pools for little ones, this is a fun afternoon for all the family to enjoy.
