A camping trip – Good for your mental health!
Comments Off on A camping trip – Good for your mental health! There is evidence to suggest that camping can have positive effects on mental health. Being outdoors and immersed in nature has been shown to reduce stress, improve mood, and increase feelings of happiness and well-being.
Where better to go camping than in Pembrokeshire, West Wales!
Newgale Holidays is an extremely popular campsite, located just 6.5 miles outside Haverfordwest. Also, we are situated only a short distance from the stunning Newgale Beach, which is admired by surfers, swimmers, and sunbathers alike.
We offer pitches for tents, caravans, and motorhomes. There is also electric hookup available for those who need it. Our facilities for our campsite guests are very modern and eco-friendly, so you’re assured of the best when it comes to quality and cleanliness.
They consist of heated male and female showers, toilets, free Wi-Fi across the site, secure smartphone charging kiosk, a small shop, two electric vehicle charging points, laundry building with washer and drier, free dishwashing facility, free ice block freezer storage, ice cube making machine (chargeable) and firepit hire and firewood to buy (chargeable).
Here are some ways in which camping can benefit mental health:
Reducing stress – Camping can help to reduce stress levels by providing a break from the demands of everyday life. Spending time in nature has been shown to lower cortisol levels, which is a hormone that is associated with stress.
Increasing physical activity – Camping often involves physical activities such as walking the Pembrokeshire Coastpath, sea swimming and kayaking. Physical activity has been shown to improve mood and reduce symptoms of anxiety and depression.
Enhancing social connections – Camping can be a social activity, whether it’s with family, friends or a group of strangers. Social connections are important for mental health and well-being. So get out a bat and ball or light up that bbq and gather a friendly group of fellow travellers.
Promoting relaxation – Camping can provide an opportunity to disconnect from technology and immerse oneself in the natural world. Watching the gorgeous sunrises and sunsets from Rainbolts Farm can promote relaxation and mindfulness, which can improve mental health.
Of course, it’s important to note that camping is not a cure-all for mental health issues,
Review from a camp site guest –
Stayed at the campsite we were only supposed to stay for one night but we liked it so much we stayed for 3. And will definitely be going back again. Staff are very kind and friendly. Toilets and showers are very clean. The shop is good and has got pretty much everything you need in there.
